As part of the Rememberance weekend organised by Loughrea Memorial Group the Credit Union is offering a competition to young children and students interested in local history to get involved by writing a short essay about a historical event that happened in Loughrea between 1913-1923
You can choose to write about a person, an event, or whatever takes your fancy of something that occured in or around Loughrea between those dates.
There are two categories to the competition:
Primary schools : 5th & 6th classes - 250 words
Secondary School students up to Intermediate Cert : 1,000 words.
The prizes include a Credit Union Visual Savings Card for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes to the value of €50, €30 and €20 for both age categories.
